Baby's Coming!

My original due date was July 24, 2012, but I went into labor on July 13, 2012.

Herman and I had ordered a crib set when I was about 5 months pregnant. I was getting close to my due date and I had told Herman that, well, the baby was going to get here soon and we needed it. For some reason it took a while for us to get it. I had been calling the store where we bought it from and they would just say that they hadn't gotten it yet.

So one day (July 12, 2012), I finally received a call from them telling me they had it. So I was soooooooooo excited that I drove with my sister in law to get it. On the FREEWAY(!!!)--something I never do.

Unfortunately the box didn't fit in my car.. so we had to take everything out of the box and put everything piece by piece in the car. When I got home, I took everything out of the car BY MYSELF and put it inside. I was exhausted.

When Herman got home, he built it. Everything was just perfect!

So Paige, my other sister in law, and I moved around the room so the crib would fit there. We put everything in its place. Now we were ready for our little boy.

That night Paige and part of our family left to go to Myrtle Beach. Everything was fine. I didn't feel any different. I just felt constipated but every time I went to the restroom nothing would happen. So we went to bed around 11. Like I said, everything was good. I woke up around 3 a.m, I just felt the need to actually poop. I went to the restroom but again, nothing happened. Went back to bed then I woke up at 5 a.m with bad cramps. Honestly it didn't even cross my mind that I could be in labor.

By 6 a.m I just knew I was in labor. I started tracking the contractions--they were 7 minutes apart. I woke up Herman and told him that it was time.

He immediately jumped out of bed! "What?!?!?" he asked.

Contractions were getting to me. I told him to get our stuff ready while I took a shower. He called his mom, my mom, brother, sister, the list goes on. We left the house around 7. I was in pain but still calmed. We arrived at the hospital around 7:30 a.m., checked in and everything.

When the nurse checked me, she did realize I was having pretty strong contractions. When the doctor came in, she said that they were gonna send me home because I wasn't dilating. I was so mad. I was obviously in labor. After like an hour, they decided that I was in labor. Even though I was in labor and in so much pain, they still didn't give me any pain medicine. I was in labor without any pain medicine for about 7 hours!

After that it was just a matter of waiting... I had to get up and walk because I wasn't dilating, and let me tell you, walking with contractions is not fun. They finally gave me some pain medicine.

It was around 6 p.m. when the doctor came in to check if I was completely dilated. Unfortunately, since they had broken my water before, they said I now had an infection and with that came fever. Plus the baby also had fever and his heart beat was slowing down. She said she'll come back in a little bit to check again and if I wasn't completely dilated, I was going to have to get a C- Section, a surgical procedure in which one or more incisions are made through a mother's abdomen and uterus to deliver babies (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caesarean_section).

At that time we had nothing to do besides wait and pray. I personally think that God is the only one who has all power.

When she came back for the last time, she said I was ready to push. Unbelievable how I went from 6cm to 10cm in less than an hour. She couldn't believe it. But I know my God did it. And now it was time to push.

Our beautiful baby was born at 8:23 p.m. on July 13, 2012. I thank God for being there when I needed him, for giving us the best thing a human being can ask for: a gorgeous, smart, healthy baby.

Tomorrow I will be posting pictures of my labor. From beginning to end.
